Bawumia Is Ideal Choice to Lead NPP—- Kwadwo Baah Agyemang Argues.

Former Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, has dismissed claims that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is responsible for the economic challenges faced during President Nana Akufo-Addo’s second term.

Speaking to the media in Kumasi, Hon. Agyemang clarified that Dr. Bawumia was not the primary authority over the economy.

Instead, his role was advisory, providing suggestions to the Cabinet and the Minister of Finance, the former MP stated.

He argued that while the Vice Presidency is a significant office, the holder’s recommendations are not legally binding on the President or the Finance Minister.

“The Vice President works under the President and executes his instructions. It is fundamentally erroneous to blame Dr. Bawumia for the economic difficulties the NPP administration faced,” Agyemang asserted.

Vision for Flagbearership:

Hon. Agyemang emphasized that Dr. Bawumia is seeking the NPP leadership to finally implement his own independent policies and programs.

As a member of the Bawumia campaign team, the former MP urged delegates to ignore “propaganda” that seeks to link the Vice President to the former government’s unpopular decisions.

Notably, Agyemang pointed out that Dr. Bawumia was on record opposing the implementation of the E-levy, an advice that was ultimately rejected by the administration.

Successes and Digital Transformation:

The former MP highlighted that the initiatives Dr. Bawumia was permitted to lead have yielded significant results.

He cited the following key programs:

Gold for Oil & Gold for Reserves:

Hpn Agyemang said these two policies continue to stabilize the economy and provide dividends.

The Digital Economy Agenda:

Hon. Agyemang described this as the primary catalyst for national transformation, noting that developed nations rely on digitalization for rapid economic returns.

“I firmly believe that as the leader of the NPP and the future President of Ghana, Dr. Bawumia will utilize digital solutions to modernize and transform this country,” he concluded.
