Barekese Water Treatment Plant Hit by Technical Breakdown – GWL Announces Emergency Measures
The Management of Ghana Water Ltd (GWL), Ashanti Region, has announced that the Barekese Water Treatment Plant is currently facing technical challenges following a blast that occurred at the high-lift section of the facility. According to the official press release, the incident has affected one of the three pumps in operation, resulting in reduced water flow and pressure to the city.

GWL indicated that its engineers are working tirelessly to repair the affected pump to help normalize flow and pressure within the distribution network. In the meantime, the technical team is managing the available water volume to enhance flow and maintain adequate pressure for customers as much as possible.
The management emphasized its understanding of the importance of a reliable water supply and reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the problem as quickly as possible. It also expressed sincere apologies to customers for the inconvenience caused and thanked the public for their patience and understanding as efforts continue to address the situation.
