Bantama MP Hon Asenso-Boakye Donates 1,000 Desks and 100 Teachers’ Furniture Sets to 27 Schools in Bantama

The Member of Parliament for the Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, has reaffirmed his deep commitment to education by donating 1,000 dual student desks and 100 sets of teachers’ tables and chairs to 27 schools within his constituency. The presentation ceremony, held in Kumasi, attracted headteachers, education officials, assembly members, and community leaders, all of whom praised the MP for his continuous investment in education.
Hon. Asenso-Boakye, who also serves as Minister for Works and Housing, said the gesture forms part of his broader effort to improve teaching and learning conditions in Bantama. He noted that education remains one of his top priorities because it is the foundation of opportunity, discipline, and long-term development. He explained that many schools in the constituency are faced with a shortage of desks and essential teaching furniture, which affects effective learning. According to him, the donation is meant to bridge that gap and provide students with a more comfortable and conducive environment for academic excellence.

He stated that since assuming office as MP, he has made several interventions to promote education, including the provision of over 4,000 desks and teachers’ furniture, renovation of classroom blocks, support for science and ICT learning, and scholarship schemes for brilliant but needy students. He also organizes mock examinations and quiz competitions to encourage academic competitiveness among basic schools.

The latest donation benefited a number of schools, including Kumasi Girls’ Senior High School, Asanteman Senior High School, Islamic Senior High School, Adventist Senior High School, Abrepo M/A Junior High School, Bantama Methodist JHS, Hwidiem M/A JHS, and several others. The gesture cuts across both public and private schools, ensuring that every educational institution in Bantama receives attention and support.

Headteachers and education stakeholders at the event commended Hon. Asenso-Boakye for his continuous investment in the education sector. Mr. Frank Asiamah Adjepong, Headmaster of State Boys and Chairman of the Heads of Basic Schools in Bantama, described the MP’s support as timely and impactful. He explained that many classrooms had faced overcrowding due to inadequate furniture, and the donation would help restore comfort and discipline among students. The Kumasi Metropolitan Education Directorate also praised the MP, noting that his commitment to education aligns with the government’s broader agenda of improving access and quality at all levels.

In his remarks, Hon. Asenso-Boakye advised teachers to guide their students on responsible social media use, emphasizing that digital distractions have become a major threat to discipline and concentration in schools. He encouraged young people to focus on their studies, respect their teachers, and take advantage of every opportunity provided to them.
He reaffirmed his readiness to continue supporting schools in Bantama with infrastructure, learning materials, and development projects. He added that subsequent donations will include more private schools in order to ensure equity and inclusiveness in education delivery across the constituency.

Parents and community leaders who attended the ceremony expressed heartfelt appreciation to the MP for his consistency and leadership. They described him as a visionary representative whose actions speak louder than words. Many noted that his focus on education is building a solid foundation for Bantama’s future, as more children are now able to learn comfortably and perform better in school.

The donation of 1,000 student desks and 100 teachers’ furniture sets stands as another remarkable milestone in Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye’s ongoing efforts to transform education in the Bantama Constituency. His vision for quality education continues to inspire hope, foster discipline, and empower young learners to pursue academic success. Through this initiative, he has once again demonstrated that meaningful leadership is rooted in service, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the future of the next generation.
