Atwima Nwabiagya North MP Hon. Frank Yeboah Pledges Annual Awards Scheme to Motivate and Retain Teachers in the Constituency
The Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency, Hon. Frank Yeboah, has announced plans to establish an annual awards scheme designed to recognize and motivate outstanding teachers within the constituency. This initiative aims to encourage teacher retention and inspire excellence in the face of the growing challenge of teacher transfers out of the area.

Hon. Yeboah made the pledge during a recent community engagement meeting held at Asuofua, which brought together education stakeholders, teachers, and residents. Emphasizing the critical role education plays in the socio-economic development of Atwima Nwabiagya North, the MP stated that teachers must be given the recognition and incentives necessary to stay committed and dedicated to their work.

“Teachers play an indispensable role in shaping the future of our children. We need to appreciate their sacrifices and create incentives that will encourage them to stay and serve our communities. This awards scheme will recognize outstanding teachers annually, and it is my hope that it will inspire excellence and retention,” Hon. Frank Yeboah remarked.

According to the MP, the awards will be merit-based, focusing on criteria such as professional performance, commitment to duty, involvement in community activities, and measurable impact on students’ academic achievements. A dedicated committee will be formed to oversee the nomination and selection process, ensuring transparency, fairness, and impartiality.

The announcement was met with enthusiasm and appreciation from teachers across the constituency. Many expressed that the initiative is timely and reflects a deep understanding of the challenges faced by educators, especially those teaching in remote and underserved areas.

“This gesture shows that our efforts are being recognized. It will serve as motivation for many of us, especially those of us in remote areas who sometimes feel forgotten. We thank the Honourable MP for thinking about us,” a representative of the teaching community said during the meeting.

Hon. Yeboah reaffirmed his commitment to advancing quality education in Atwima Nwabiagya North. He cited ongoing projects such as the renovation of school infrastructure, provision of teaching and learning materials, and efforts to lobby for more teacher postings to hard-to-reach communities.

The annual teacher awards scheme is expected to be officially launched with the first ceremony slated to take place during the district’s Education Week celebrations.

This new initiative promises to be a vital step towards building a motivated and stable teaching workforce, ultimately contributing to the sustained academic success of the constituency’s students.
