Atwima Mponua MP Seth Osei Akoto Brings Relief to Nyinahin Rainstorm Victims with Donation and Appeals for Broader Support

The Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua Constituency, Hon. Seth Osei Akoto, has reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of his constituents by donating essential relief items to victims of the recent devastating rainstorm at Nyinahin.

In a compassionate response to the disaster, Hon. Akoto presented vital supplies including roofing sheets and sleeping mattresses to assist the affected individuals and families in rebuilding their lives. The donation ceremony, held at Nyinahin, brought together local authorities, community members, and officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Akoto called on the government—particularly the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC)—as well as Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), corporate bodies, and philanthropic individuals to extend further assistance to the victims. He emphasized that while he had taken the first step, the magnitude of the disaster required a collective effort.

“As a Member of Parliament, I am committed to supporting my people, but the scale of devastation is such that I cannot do it alone. It is time for all well-meaning individuals, organizations, and stakeholders to come on board to support the victims,” he stated.

Receiving the items on behalf of the victims, the Atwima Mponua District NADMO Director, Mr. Otuo Acheampong Rabi, expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Akoto for his timely and generous intervention. He noted that the donation would bring immediate relief to those affected and stressed the importance of collaboration between government officials and disaster management agencies in times of crisis.

“Hon. Akoto’s support is not only a relief to the victims but also a demonstration of the critical need for partnership in disaster response efforts,” Mr. Acheampong added.

The Assembly Member for Nyinahin Nkwanta Electoral Area, Hon. Kwabena Karikari, alongside several affected individuals, also extended heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Akoto. They praised his responsiveness and dedication to the plight of the community, highlighting the significant impact the donated items would have on their recovery.

“Your timely intervention has given us hope and reaffirmed our belief in leadership that listens and acts in the interest of the people,” Hon. Karikari said.

The Nyinahin rainstorm disaster left numerous families homeless and caused significant property damage. Hon. Seth Osei Akoto’s actions, coupled with his appeal for broader support, underscore the spirit of unity and compassion needed to help rebuild and strengthen the affected communities.

Hon. Akoto’s intervention has been widely commended, with many constituents lauding him for standing with them during these trying times. His gesture serves as a reminder of the essential role elected leaders and stakeholders play in safeguarding the well-being of citizens during emergencies.
