The hardworking District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Ishaq Ibrahim, has paid an unannounced working visit to the COCOBOD Seed Production Division’s exhibition farm located in Atwima Mponua.

The strategic facility, though sited in the district, extends its services to four other districts across the Ashanti and Western North Regions. It plays a central role in Ghana’s cocoa seed production efforts, making it one of the key backbones of the nation’s cocoa industry.

During his interaction with management and staff of the facility, Hon. Ibrahim sought detailed clarity on the operations and mission of the seed farm. He further inquired about employment opportunities and the recruitment processes to ensure fairness and inclusiveness for the local people.

The DCE emphasized that Atwima Mponua, as host to this critical national asset, must not be left behind in its benefits. He strongly advocated that residents, particularly the youth, should be given priority in employment and skills training opportunities that arise from the facility’s operations.

“As leaders, we must ensure that our people benefit first from resources we host. Atwima Mponua deserves nothing less,” Hon. Ibrahim stressed.
He noted that while the facility’s primary mandate is to boost cocoa production nationwide, its presence in Atwima Mponua should also translate into meaningful development, including job creation, agricultural empowerment, and improved livelihoods for host communities.
Hon. Ibrahim explained that his surprise visit forms part of a new proactive governance strategy aimed at bringing leadership closer to the people while championing agricultural growth and sustainable development. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to engaging institutions such as COCOBOD to guarantee that national projects sited in the district contribute directly to the socio-economic transformation of Atwima Mponua.
The DCE assured farmers and residents that his office will continue to monitor, collaborate, and hold stakeholders accountable to ensure that Atwima Mponua remains at the center of agricultural transformation in Ghana.
