Atwima Kwanwoma U-17 Team Clinches District Soccer Title at Bekwai

The Atwima Kwanwoma Under-17 District Football Team has etched its name in glory after emerging champions of a highly competitive inter-district soccer tournament held in Bekwai under the auspices of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene.

The keenly contested championship brought together six districts from across the Ashanti Region, showcasing emerging football talents and promoting youth development through sports. Displaying exceptional skill, discipline, teamwork and resilience throughout the tournament, the Atwima Kwanwoma side proved dominant and deserving winners of the ultimate prize.

The victorious team was led by the District Sports Coordinator, Mr. Moses Pewudie, with technical guidance from Coach Daniel Badu Dankwa. In recognition of their outstanding performance, the team was presented with a set of jerseys, a football and football hose as winners of the competition.

Following their triumph, the players and technical team paid a courtesy call on the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah, at her office. Welcoming the team, Hon. Agyemang Asamoah congratulated them for flying the flag of the district high and urged them to set their sights even higher as they prepare for the upcoming national competition.

As a token of appreciation for their hard work and commitment, the DCE presented a cash donation of GH¢2,000 to the team. She encouraged the players to remain focused, disciplined and dedicated to their training, assuring them of the Assembly’s continuous support, which she described as a long-standing commitment to sports development in the district. According to her, sports remains a powerful tool for youth empowerment, talent identification and positive social development.

The District Coordinating Director, Mr. Muhammed Shaibu, also addressed the team, advising the players to balance their football ambitions with their academic pursuits. He urged them to remain resilient, hardworking and determined, noting that discipline and education are essential ingredients in producing the next generation of Ghana’s football stars.

On behalf of the team, Mr. Moses Pewudie, together with Coach Daniel Badu Dankwa, received the cash donation and expressed profound gratitude to the District Assembly for its unwavering support throughout the competition. They appealed for continued assistance as the team prepares to face tougher challenges at the national level.
