The Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly has secured a distinguished continental honour after winning the Excellence in Socio-Economic Development and Service Delivery Award at the African Public Service Optimum Awards, held on Wednesday, 12th November 2025, at the La-Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.
The event, organised by The Business Executive Group, brought together leading public sector institutions, policymakers, innovators, and governance experts from across the African continent to celebrate exceptional performance and transformative leadership in public administration.

Amid strong competition from celebrated public institutions across Africa, the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly emerged as a standout performer, earning praise for its remarkable achievements under the stewardship of the District Chief Executive, Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah.

Hon. Agyemang Asamoah’s leadership over the past years has repositioned the district as one of Ghana’s most progressive and development-focused local governments. Her administration has been widely credited for initiating and sustaining major improvements in infrastructure development, revenue mobilisation, sanitation, educational advancement, healthcare support systems, digitalisation of services, and community-driven economic empowerment programmes.

The award recognises the Assembly’s commitment to responsive governance, innovation, accountability, and inclusive growth—core principles that have significantly improved the quality of life for residents of Atwima Kwanwoma.

Receiving the award on behalf of the district, Hon. Agyemang Asamoah DCE expressed profound appreciation to the organisers and dedicated the honour to the hardworking staff of the Assembly, traditional leaders, community partners, and development stakeholders whose collaboration continues to shape the district’s development agenda.

“This award is a testament to what we can achieve when leadership, teamwork, and community partnership converge with a shared vision. Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly remains committed to pushing for more inclusive development and delivering services that meet the expectations of our people,” she stated.

The recognition has sparked widespread commendation from residents and governance observers, many of whom see it as a clear endorsement of the Assembly’s result-oriented approach and its growing influence as a model of effective local governance in Ghana.

With this continental honour, the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly is expected to deepen its developmental initiatives and strengthen institutional systems to sustain the steady progress the district has recorded in recent years.
