Association of Liberal Muslims–Ghana Calls for Urgent Probe Into Fatal Military Helicopter Crash
The Association of Liberal Muslims–Ghana has expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the nation following the tragic military helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in Adansi Sikaman, located in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

The crash claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaians, including high-ranking government appointees, senior party executives, and military crew members, all of whom were reportedly on official duty. The incident has left the nation in mourning, with tributes pouring in from various institutions and individuals.

In an official statement signed by Executive Secretary Umar Harris, the Association of Liberal Muslims–Ghana extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, friends, and the people of Ghana. The Association also expressed its deepest sympathies to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, the current President of the Republic of Ghana, for the painful loss of dedicated public servants under his administration.

“These fallen individuals were true patriots whose lives were marked by service, humility, and unwavering dedication to the progress of Ghana,” the statement said. “Their tragic passing is not only a personal loss to their families and colleagues but a national tragedy that must be honored with truth and accountability.”

The Association of Liberal Muslims–Ghana has called on the government to immediately commission a full-scale, independent, and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. It emphasized that such an investigation is critical to uncovering the truth, learning from any failings, and improving the safety of official air travel.

“We respectfully urge the government to act swiftly in probing this national disaster and to ensure that the necessary steps are taken to prevent such occurrences in the future,” the statement continued. “The safety of public officials and citizens alike must remain a top priority.”

The Association of Liberal Muslims–Ghana further urged the general public to remain calm, united, and prayerful during this painful period. It encouraged all Ghanaians to reflect on the sacrifices made by the departed and to recommit themselves to the values these individuals stood for—integrity, service, and national unity.

“May the Almighty Allah grant eternal rest to the departed and bring comfort and healing to the bereaved families, the people of Ghana, and our President during this time of grief,” the statement concluded.
The crash, which involved a military helicopter reportedly en route from Accra to Obuasi, has sent shockwaves across the country. As investigations are anticipated, the nation continues to honor the memory of the eight individuals who died in service to Ghana.
