Ashanti Regional Minister, Gender Minister, and MASLOC CEO Support Adum PZ Fire Victims with GHC 100,000 Relief Package

In the wake of the devastating fire outbreak at Adum PZ and Blue Light, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, alongside the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, and the CEO of MASLOC, Madam Abigail Akwambea Mensah, has engaged the leadership of the affected traders to assess the situation and provide immediate support.

During the engagement, Dr. Amoakohene, on behalf of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, extended the government’s deepest sympathies to the victims and reaffirmed its commitment to assisting them in recovering and rebuilding their businesses.

“The President shares in your pain and stands with you during this difficult time. We will work together to ensure you receive the necessary support to restore your livelihoods,” the Regional Minister assured.

Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey and Madam Abigail Akwambea Mensah also pledged their respective ministries’ support to ease the burden on affected traders. As an initial relief measure, a donation of GHC 100,000 was made to assist the most vulnerable among the victims while awaiting the outcome of a full needs assessment for a more comprehensive intervention.

Additionally, Dr. Amoakohene highlighted an earlier donation of GHC 500,000 from a generous philanthropist, specifically earmarked to support students, widows, and single parents impacted by the disaster.

“This is a time for unity. We must come together to support one another, and I assure you that the government remains committed to helping our people through this crisis,” Dr. Amoakohene emphasized.

The engagement provided an opportunity for affected traders to voice their concerns, with many expressing gratitude for the swift intervention. Authorities have assured them that further assistance will be provided based on the final assessment of damages and losses.

The tragic fire incident at Adum PZ has sparked calls for enhanced safety measures in commercial areas to prevent future occurrences. Government agencies and stakeholders are expected to collaborate on long-term strategies to ensure market resilience and protect businesses from similar disasters.
