Ashanti Regional Minister and Mahama’s Legal Counsel Visit Adum PZ Fire Scene, Pledge Support for Affected Traders

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, together with the Legal Counsel to H.E. John Dramani Mahama, Lawyer Marietta Brew, has visited the Adum PZ fire scene for the fourth time to assess the situation and engage with affected traders.

The visit, which underscores their continued commitment to the victims, saw interactions with the leadership of the affected traders, where assurances were given about government’s unwavering support in the recovery process.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Amoakohene emphasized that the government remains committed to ensuring that traders who lost their businesses in the devastating fire receive the necessary assistance. He announced that the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) have been commissioned to begin the registration of all affected traders.

“This registration is a crucial first step in our recovery efforts. It will enable us to assess the level of damage and facilitate the needed support to help traders rebuild their businesses and livelihoods,” he stated.

Lawyer Marietta Brew, representing former President Mahama, also assured the traders of continuous engagement to ensure that the necessary interventions reach them promptly. She commended the resilience of the affected business owners and called for unity in the face of the disaster.

The visit also saw expressions of gratitude to the Ghana National Fire Service, the security agencies, and the entire trading community for their swift response and efforts in managing the crisis.

“We recognize the sacrifices and dedication of all stakeholders in responding to this unfortunate incident. Together, we will recover. Together, we will rebuild,” Dr. Amoakohene reiterated.

The fire, which ravaged parts of the Adum PZ area, has left several businesses in ruins, with many traders counting their losses. The government’s intervention, including the upcoming relief measures, is expected to provide much-needed hope and relief to the affected community.

Authorities have urged all affected persons to cooperate fully with the registration process to ensure a smooth and effective distribution of support.
