Ashanti region: Impassable roads leave Ango, Manhyia communities stranded and frustrated at Ahafo Ano South West District
Residents of Ango, Manhyia, Woiso, and other surrounding communities in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region are calling on the government to urgently repair their deteriorating road network, which they say has become nearly impassable and a source of daily hardship.
The residents explained that the poor state of the roads exposes commuters to thick dust, deep potholes, and frequent travel delays, affecting businesses and social activities and raising concerns about respiratory diseases.
Motorcyclists and traders described the situation as dangerous and increasingly unbearable.

“We are tired of dust, pushing cars, potholes, and delays. It is frustrating, and we need help,” some community members said in interviews, stressing that the road has become a threat to both safety and livelihoods.
They noted that the road serves as a vital link among several farming communities but worsens significantly during the rainy season, making the transportation of farm produce and access to basic services extremely difficult.
“Farmers are losing produce, students are missing school, and access to healthcare is compromised,” they complained.
Some residents expressed disappointment over what they described as government inaction.
“The situation is getting worse by the day. We have been calling out to the government for help, but they seem deaf to our pleas. Yet we are the ones who vote them into power during elections,” a resident said, appealing for immediate attention.

The concerns were raised during a thank-you tour by the District Chief Executive of Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Abubakari Sadiq.
Responding to the appeals, the DCE urged residents to remain calm and assured them of his commitment to improving the road network, promising to work to ease their suffering and to justify their confidence in the current government.
