The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Ashanti Region has received substantial support from Twellium Industrial Company Limited in preparation for the 2024 edition of the Ghana Teacher Prize. The company, as part of its corporate social responsibility, has donated 6,000 bottles and 720 cartons of assorted drinks and Verna water to be served to participants during the three-day event, which will be held in Kumasi.
Scheduled to take place from Thursday, October 3 to Saturday, October 5, 2024, the Ghana Teacher Prize aims to recognize and celebrate exceptional teachers across the country. Formerly known as the National Best Teacher Award, this prestigious annual event acknowledges educators who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to their profession and make significant impacts on the lives of students.
At a brief ceremony to receive the donation, the Ashanti Regional Deputy Director for the GES expressed deep appreciation to Twellium Industrial Company Limited for their generous contribution. The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is expected to attend the grand durbar, emphasizing the importance of the event in Ghana’s educational landscape.
This year’s theme, *”Valuing Teacher Voices Towards a New Social Contract for Education,”* highlights the pivotal role of teachers in shaping education policies and reforms. It further underscores the need to empower educators to ensure the provision of inclusive, quality education that benefits all.
Mr. Thomas Kwame Boateng, a GES representative, noted that the awards would honor both teaching and non-teaching staff within the region. This initiative, he explained, is designed to motivate all educational workers to strive for excellence in their roles. He commended Twellium for their continued support, emphasizing how such partnerships help facilitate the smooth organization of the event.
