Asanteman Senior High School celebrates 60th anniversary, calls for infrastructural support.

Asanteman Senior High School, which came under government’s administration in 1954 to offer holistic education to students in and across the Ashanti region, is decrying critical shortcomings in infrastructural development.

The second cycle institution is battling insufficient accommodation that could absorb only 20 per cent of teachers, leading to teachers trekking miles to school daily.

“The school urgently needs more security personnel to ensure effective and adequate security since the current is highly inadequate. We would be very much grateful to see more improvement in our drainage system. This will not only uplift the image of the school but also make life more comfortable.

“The school needs additional classroom blocks to be able to accommodate the growing student population, explaining the school is currently facing infrastructure deficit. Most of our staff live outside campus. In this regard, supervision and control of students is left on the shoulders of only a few resident staff. We are therefore appealing to all stakeholders to come to our aid in the provision of more staff bungalows and living quarters,” he said.

The anniversary was themed: “70 Years of Enhancing Quality Education in Ghana: The Role of Asanteman”.

Member of Parliament for Bantama, Francis Asenso Boakye, commended the school for it’s invaluable role in shaping students into responsible leaders and reaffirmed the government’s continued commitment to their infrastructure needs.

He also encouraged students to embrace the Free SHS initiative by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration as a foundation for their future success.

Hon. Francis Asenso Boakye expressed his heartfelt thanks to the management for recognizing his contributions as the MP for the area towards the growth of the school.
