The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante Akyem Central, Hon. Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Ekow Aidoo, has made an urgent appeal to corporate organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), philanthropists, and residents to assist the municipality in acquiring a functional fire tender.

Speaking to Hello FM News during the 69th Independence Day celebration, Hon. Rev. Dr. Aidoo lamented that the municipality has been without a working fire tender for several months, following the breakdown of the old vehicle due to age and technical faults.

“This situation is deeply concerning and poses a serious threat to the safety of our residents,” he stated. The MCE highlighted a recent incident where a 13-bedroom house was completely destroyed by fire, emphasizing the urgent need for modern firefighting equipment.

He further noted that multiple fire outbreaks have occurred since the old fire tender became non-operational, leaving the municipality vulnerable to the destruction of lives and property.
In a passionate call to action, the MCE urged stakeholders and residents across Asante Akyem Central, Asante Akyem South, Asante Akyem North, and Bosome Freho to contribute financially or otherwise to the acquisition of a new fire tender. “Every contribution, no matter the size, will help safeguard lives and property in our municipality,” he stressed.

Hon. Rev. Dr. Aidoo’s appeal underscores the municipality’s commitment to public safety and the importance of collective responsibility in protecting the community from fire hazards.
