Asante Akyem Bompata Nifahene Urges Youth to Shun Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Embrace Hard Work
The Nifahene of the Asante Akyem Bompata Traditional Area, Nana Yamoah Agyemang, has urged the youth to desist from alcohol abuse and drug use, describing such habits as destructive and a major threat to their future and personal development.
According to him, alcohol and drug abuse among the youth continues to undermine productivity, discipline and moral values, making it difficult for young people to achieve their full potential and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Nana Yamoah Agyemang, who is also the Principal of Tetrefu Technical Institute, encouraged the youth to embrace hard work, discipline and skills development, stressing that success in life is achieved through commitment, determination and the acquisition of employable skills.
He reminded the youth that they are the future leaders of the country and must therefore make conscious choices that will positively shape their lives and the nation’s future. He added that indulging in substance abuse only leads to wasted potential, broken dreams and social challenges.
The Nifahene made these remarks during a traditional ceremony at which he swore the oath of allegiance to the Paramount Chief of the Asante Akyem Bompata Traditional Area, Nana Effah-Apenteng, in Asante Akyem Bompata in the Asante Akim South District of the Ashanti Region.
He also issued a strong warning to individuals involved in the importation, distribution and sale of illicit drugs targeted at the youth, calling on them to desist from such activities which endanger the wellbeing and future of the younger generation.
Nana Yamoah Agyemang reaffirmed his commitment to working with traditional authorities, educational institutions and development partners to promote positive youth development, education and skills training in the Asante Akyem Bompata Traditional Area.
