The Assembly Member for the Asaago and Apaaso Electoral Area, Nelson Boakye Yiadom, has praised the District Chief Executive of Atwima Kwanwoma District, Grace Asamoah Agyemang, for her decisive intervention in reviving an abandoned health centre project in the area.
Hon. Yiadom explained that the project, originally initiated under a previous administration led by former DCE Hon Prince Karikari Brempong, had been left incomplete for several years, leaving residents with limited access to essential healthcare services. The abandonment had long been a source of concern for communities in Asaago, Apaaso, Odarso, and surrounding areas.
He noted that the return of the contractor to the site has instilled renewed hope, with visible progress demonstrating a clear commitment to completing the facility. According to Hon. Yiadom, the community is actively supporting the project by safeguarding construction materials, including cement and other essentials, to prevent theft or misuse, ensuring that the project proceeds smoothly and on schedule.
“The completion of this health centre will transform healthcare delivery in our communities,” Hon. Yiadom stated. “Residents will no longer need to travel long distances for medical services, and the overall well-being of our people will be significantly improved.”
Residents who spoke to the media welcomed the resumption of work but urged the government to ensure timely completion, describing the facility as long overdue and critical for meeting the growing healthcare needs of the population.
In addition, they appealed for the urgent tarring of the road connecting Ampayoo Junction to Asaago, Apaaso, and Odarso. They highlighted that the current deplorable state of the road continues to impede transportation, limit economic activities, and restrict access to essential services, including healthcare.
The revival of the health centre and the planned road improvements are seen by residents as vital steps toward enhancing both healthcare delivery and socio-economic development in the Atwima Kwanwoma District.
