Apostle Dr. Samuel Amagashie Pledges to Establish Herbal Nursing Training College If Appointed Minister

Prominent herbal medicine practitioner Apostle Dr. Samuel Amagashie has announced his commitment to establishing a Herbal Nursing Training College if President John Dramani Mahama appoints him as Ghana’s first Minister for Herbal Medicine.

Speaking at the Media and Entrepreneurship Prominence Awards in Kumasi, where he was honored as the Best Innovation Herbal Clinic of the Year 2024/25, Apostle Dr. Amagashie emphasized the need for a professional training institution to enhance the credibility and effectiveness of herbal medicine in Ghana.

“If I am appointed as the Minister for Herbal Medicine, I will work tirelessly to ensure that herbal medicine is properly recognized and supported. One of my top priorities will be to establish a Nursing Training College for Herbal Medicine Practitioners to professionalize the industry and improve healthcare delivery in Ghana,” he stated.

Transforming Herbal Medicine Through Professional Training

Apostle Dr. Amagashie explained that the herbal medicine sector in Ghana lacks formal training structures, which affects its integration into mainstream healthcare. He believes a Herbal Nursing Training College would provide:

✔ Structured education and certification for herbal practitioners.
✔ Scientific research and quality control to improve herbal treatments.
✔ Collaboration with hospitals and universities for integrated healthcare delivery.
✔ Job creation and economic growth through the expansion of the herbal industry.

A Call for Government Action

Apostle Dr. Amagashie urged President Mahama and his administration to take steps toward formalizing and promoting herbal medicine in Ghana. He emphasized that many Ghanaians rely on herbal treatments, making it essential for the government to provide institutional support and regulation.

His proposal for a Herbal Nursing Training College aligns with global efforts to standardize alternative medicine, ensuring that herbal healthcare meets modern medical standards.

With growing interest in natural and alternative medicine worldwide, Apostle Dr. Amagashie believes Ghana has the potential to become a leader in herbal medicine research and practice, provided the government takes proactive measures to support the sector.
