Apart from Joe Mettle, all other nominees for Artiste of the year are deserving- Nana Romeo

Radio Presenter, Nana Romeo Welewele has launched a scathing attack on Gospel musician, Joe Mettle‘s nomination for the Artiste of the year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

The OAP believes that there is an error with Joe Mettle’s nomination in that category and would like to see the board rectify it ahead of the event in May.
On the E-Forum By Abrantepa, Nana Romeo discussed the nominations, asking “Why was Joe Mettle nominated under this category? and if he “works for the VGMA board”

“Ras Kuuku has questioned why Joe Mettle is always given a safe spot under the ‘Artiste of the Year’ category. He wants to find out whether Joe Mettle is part of the VGMA board or works for them,” he pointed out.

The opinionated radio host explained that all the other artists in the category have had a remarkable year and hence merited the nomination but he couldn’t say the same for the “Boo No Ni” singer.

“Why was Joe Mettle nominated under this category? There is a question mark there…it is simply because we don’t see it. Why haven’t we questioned Black Sherif, Camidoh, and KiDi’s nomination? It is just Joe that people have raised concerns. None was said about Piesie Esther’s nomination,” he explained

Joe Mettle who goes on the record as the only Gospel Singer to win the VGMA Artiste of the Year is under attack by critics and pundits once again for receiving nominations at the 24th VGMAs.

Nana Romeo added, “I guess Joe Mettle’s nomination will be revisited and possibly removed during the 1-week window for corrections. Apart from that, all the nominees under this particular category are deserving.”

Joe Mettle, who has been silent on his recent nominations as he tours North America, in the past has said he wanted to back out of the scheme.

“To be honest, a time came when I decided to withdraw a bit from the scheme. The decision was to encourage others to also have the feel of winning the award so that it will make enjoyable and serve as a fair playing ground,” he said on Akoma FMHis fans have also mounted a spirited defense for his nomination with some arguing that he has had a very impactful year, especially in Christian and religious circles.
