In a gesture aimed at improving education, Mr. Kaakyire K. Owusu, the Assembly Member for the Anwiafutu Electoral Area in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, has donated educational materials to three basic schools within his jurisdiction. The donation, valued at GH₵22,000.00, included exercise books, pens, and pencils, and was presented to Anwiafutu D/A, Botranpa D/A, and My Future International School.
The brief presentation ceremony took place at Anwiafutu, where Mr. Owusu emphasized the importance of education in shaping the future of young people. Speaking to the gathered students, teachers, and parents, he noted that the donation was his contribution toward enhancing teaching and learning in the schools under his care.
“I want these children to have access to the basic tools they need for their education. It is my hope that this small gesture will go a long way in helping them achieve academic excellence,” Mr. Owusu remarked. He encouraged the students to make good use of the materials and urged them to study hard in order to become responsible citizens who will contribute positively to nation-building.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the schools, Mr. George Awuah, the School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) of the Adiembra Circuit, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Assembly Member for his kind gesture. He noted that the donation came at an opportune time, as many students in the community were in need of learning materials.
“This is a commendable initiative, and we deeply appreciate the efforts of Mr. Owusu. The donation will go a long way in supporting the educational needs of our students,” Mr. Awuah said.
Parents present at the event also expressed their appreciation, praising Mr. Owusu for his continuous support of education in the community. According to them, such gestures motivate their children to take their studies seriously, knowing they have the backing of local leaders.
The donation is expected to have a significant impact on the academic performance of students in Anwiafutu and its surrounding areas, as it addresses the lack of basic learning materials, which is a challenge faced by many schools in rural communities.
