Amenuveve Outreach Ministry Holds 19th Donation Exercise for Female Prisoners Nationwide

The Founder and General Overseer of Amenuveve Outreach Ministry and Ashanti Regional Prisons Chaplain, Rev. CSP Stella Ama Katso Anku, has successfully carried out the 19th edition of the ministry’s annual donation exercise, providing 350 pieces of cloth (ntoma) to female prisoners across Ghana.

The presentation took place at the premises of Kumasi Central Prisons, where the items were formally handed over to the prison authorities for distribution to the inmates. The donation is part of the ministry’s long-standing humanitarian intervention aimed at bringing joy, hope, and dignity to incarcerated women, especially during the Christmas season.

Rev. Katso Anku explained that many female prisoners face neglect, emotional distress, and societal stigmatization, making festive periods particularly challenging. She noted that such gestures serve as a reminder that society has not forgotten them.

Speaking to the media, Rev. Katso Anku said, “Christmas is a season of love and compassion. Many female prisoners feel abandoned during this period, so our donation is meant to uplift their spirits and put smiles on their faces. Over the years, this initiative has become a symbol of hope and encouragement for women in prisons across Ghana.”

She further highlighted that female prisoners often face abandonment by their families, with some husbands divorcing their wives during incarceration. According to her, female inmates require special care, attention, and support to successfully reintegrate into society after serving their sentences.

The total cost of the donation was GH¢50,000, funded through contributions from well-wishers and partners of Amenuveve Outreach Ministry. Rev. CSP Katso Anku appealed to Ghanaians, corporate institutions, and faith-based organizations to support the ministry, enabling it to sustain and expand its outreach programmes.

Receiving the items on behalf of Kumasi Central Prison, the Ashanti Regional Commander of Prisons and Officer-in-Charge, Mr. James B. Nwinyelle, expressed gratitude to Rev. Katso Anku and her ministry for their continuous support to the welfare of prisoners. He described the donation as timely, impactful, and essential in improving the morale and dignity of female inmates.

Mr. Nwinyelle assured that the items would be distributed to the intended beneficiaries and called on other organizations and members of the public to emulate Amenuveve Outreach Ministry’s example by supporting initiatives that enhance the welfare, rehabilitation, and social reintegration of prisoners across Ghana.
