Amansie West District Welcomes GoldBOD’s Multi-Million Cedi Social Responsibility Projects

The Amansie West District has received a major development boost as the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBOD) formally presented three transformative community projects for the district’s consideration during a high-level engagement with the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Prince M. Manu. The courtesy visit, held at the District Assembly, marked one of the most significant corporate social responsibility gestures directed at the district in recent years.

GoldBOD’s executives outlined three multi-million cedi development options designed to support the long-term growth and well-being of communities in the district. The project options include a fully equipped modern hospital, a comprehensive water and sanitation improvement project, and an advanced educational facility intended to enhance teaching and learning across the district.

Each project has been structured to meet critical needs within Amansie West. Under the hospital option, the district stands to benefit from a state-of-the-art medical facility with dedicated units for emergency care, maternal and child health services, diagnostics, and outpatient treatment. This development would address a long-standing challenge in the district where residents must often travel significant distances to access specialised medical attention.

The water and sanitation project, another major option, is designed to alleviate the burden of inadequate potable water and poor sanitation infrastructure that affects numerous communities. The proposal includes mechanised boreholes, water distribution systems, modern toilet facilities, improved waste management structures, and a sanitation awareness campaign targeted at reducing waterborne diseases.

The third proposal focuses on education, with GoldBOD offering to construct a modern school complex furnished with ICT laboratories, spacious classrooms, teachers’ quarters, and specialised learning spaces. This project seeks to improve learning conditions, bridge infrastructure gaps, and support academic excellence among young people in the district.

DCE Hon. Prince M. Manu expressed deep gratitude to GoldBOD for what he described as a timely and highly impactful gesture. He assured the executives that the Assembly would review the proposals thoroughly to identify the project that aligns most strategically with the district’s development priorities. According to him, the Assembly’s choice will focus on long-term benefits and direct community impact.

Residents and opinion leaders across the district have also welcomed GoldBOD’s intervention, describing it as a major step toward addressing developmental deficits in the mining-driven district. Many commended GoldBOD for showing genuine commitment to the welfare of communities that contribute to Ghana’s mineral wealth.

GoldBOD executives reaffirmed their dedication to advancing responsible mining and ensuring that mining communities receive direct social and infrastructural support. They stated that the initiative is part of a broader national agenda to promote sustainable development in mineral-producing districts.

The visit concludes a significant stage in GoldBOD’s engagement with Amansie West, setting the district on course to select a project that will shape its development trajectory for generations. With the Assembly expected to announce its final choice soon, residents remain hopeful that the selected project will deliver transformative and lasting impact.
