Atwima kwanwoma District Teen Girl Butchered in Nweneso No. 2: Police Launch Manhunt for Killers

An 18-year-old girl has been brutally murdered at Nweneso No. 2 in the Atwima kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region, leaving the community in deep mourning and fear.

The tragic incident occurred late Thursday night, and the young victim was discovered dead in her room early Friday morning. According to police sources and eyewitness accounts, the girl sustained severe head injuries suspected to have been caused by a sharp weapon, believed to be a cutlass.

The victim, whose name is being withheld for now, was said to be living with her mother. She was found in a pool of blood by relatives who became concerned after she failed to wake up at her usual time. The sight of her motionless body, with deep cuts to the head, triggered panic and sorrow across the household and the wider community.

Speaking to Otec News, residents described the killing as barbaric and called on authorities to act swiftly to bring the perpetrators to justice. “We are scared. If someone can enter a girl’s room and kill her like this, then none of us is safe,” a concerned resident said.

The foase  Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the case. Officers have since visited the crime scene, gathered initial evidence, and transported the body to the morgue for autopsy.

They  described the murder as a “heinous and cowardly act” and vowed that the police would leave no stone unturned in pursuing justice.

“We have begun our investigations and are following several leads. We are also appealing to members of the public to share any information, no matter how small, to help us trace the person or people behind this crime,” he said.

As fear grips the community, many residents are calling for increased security patrols, improved street lighting, and stronger community vigilance to prevent similar tragedies.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased is being supported by community leaders and friends, as the entire district comes to terms with the horrifying loss of a young life full of promise.
