Amansie West Applauds GoldBOD’s Commitment to Health, Education and Water Infrastructure

The Amansie West District has welcomed a major initiative from the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBOD), signaling a strong commitment to improving the welfare of communities in mining regions. Senior executives of GoldBOD recently paid a courtesy visit to the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Prince M. Manu, at the District Assembly to present three high-impact community development projects for the district’s consideration.
During the engagement, GoldBOD outlined three proposed projects as part of its corporate social responsibility framework: a state-of-the-art hospital, a comprehensive water and sanitation initiative, and a modern educational facility. Each project is designed to address critical developmental challenges in the district, ensuring improved access to healthcare, clean water, sanitation, and quality education.
The hospital project aims to transform healthcare delivery in the district by offering advanced medical services closer to residents’ homes. The facility would include emergency care units, maternal and child health services, diagnostic laboratories, outpatient clinics, and specialised treatment centres. This project is expected to reduce the need for residents to travel to distant hospitals, significantly improving overall healthcare access and outcomes.
The water and sanitation project seeks to tackle persistent challenges in potable water supply and sanitation infrastructure. GoldBOD’s proposal includes mechanised boreholes, extended water distribution systems, public sanitation facilities, and community hygiene education programs. These interventions are designed to curb waterborne diseases, promote healthier living standards, and enhance environmental sustainability in the district.
The proposed educational facility aims to provide a modern learning environment to uplift academic performance and support teachers. The project includes ICT laboratories, spacious classrooms, staff offices, and learning support facilities. By improving infrastructure and resources, the initiative is expected to enhance student outcomes, foster holistic education, and encourage teacher retention in the district.
Hon. Prince M. Manu expressed profound appreciation to GoldBOD for the initiative, noting that it demonstrates the organisation’s commitment to translating mining revenues into meaningful community development. He assured that the District Assembly would thoroughly review all three proposals to select the project that best addresses the district’s immediate and long-term developmental priorities. According to him, the chosen project will have a transformative impact on the lives of residents and the overall socio-economic growth of Amansie West.
Community leaders and residents have expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for GoldBOD’s proactive intervention. Many highlighted that such strategic projects are long overdue, and their implementation promises to address critical gaps, improve living standards, and stimulate growth in the district.
GoldBOD executives reaffirmed their dedication to responsible mining and sustainable community development. They emphasized that these projects are part of a nationwide strategy to ensure that mining communities benefit equitably from Ghana’s mineral resources while promoting long-term socio-economic progress.
The visit marks a pivotal step in strengthening collaboration between GoldBOD and the Amansie West District Assembly. With the Assembly expected to select the preferred project soon, residents are optimistic that the initiative will usher in lasting improvements in health, education, and water infrastructure, setting a benchmark for sustainable development in mining communities across the country.
