Amansie South Presiding Member Hon. Kwame Amponsah Donates 15,000 Exercise Books to All JHS Students, Launches Major Educational Support Initiative

In a remarkable gesture aimed at promoting quality education and motivating students across the Amansie South District, the Presiding Member and Assembly Member for Manso Datano Electoral Area, Hon. Kwame Amponsah, popularly known as Home Boy, has donated 15,000 exercise books to all Junior High School (JHS) students in the district.

The donation, which forms part of his broader educational support initiative, is targeted at easing the burden on parents and ensuring that every student has the basic learning materials needed to excel academically. The kind-hearted Presiding Member revealed that the gesture is only the beginning of a comprehensive educational intervention designed to inspire and support the youth of Amansie South to reach greater heights.

Hon. Kwame Amponsah further disclosed his plans to distribute chop boxes and trunks to all Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates who gain admission into Senior High Schools (SHS) this year. According to him, this initiative will serve as a motivation for the candidates to study harder and achieve better results. He also promised to every student who successfully gains admission into an SHS a cash reward of GH¢1,000 as additional support to help them begin their next phase of education smoothly.

Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Amponsah emphasized that education remains the most powerful tool for transforming lives and developing communities. He passionately urged students in the district to take their studies seriously, assuring them that their commitment and hard work will be recognized and rewarded through his support programme.

“It is my fervent prayer that, in the years to come, Manso will produce professionals such as engineers, doctors, lawyers, professors, nurses, and other distinguished men and women who will proudly represent our district,” Hon. Amponsah stated.

He also used the occasion to call on parents and guardians to play a more active role in their wards’ education. He cautioned against the growing trend of prioritizing lavish funerals, expensive clothing, and luxury cars over investing in children’s education.

“Parents should understand that education is the only legacy no one can take away from their children. Before spending huge sums on funerals and other social events, they must ensure they have provided their children with the best education possible,” he advised.

Hon. Amponsah expressed his disappointment after touring several schools in the district, where he observed that some pupils still attend classes barefooted while others study under trees due to inadequate infrastructure. He described the situation as heartbreaking and called on stakeholders, community leaders, and well-meaning citizens to contribute towards improving the educational environment in Amansie South.

He emphasized that education is a collective responsibility and appealed to everyone—teachers, parents, local authorities, and development partners—to play their part in nurturing the next generation of leaders.

Some beneficiary students and headteachers who received the items expressed their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Hon. Kwame Amponsah for his immense support. The students pledged to study harder and make the Presiding Member proud, describing his gesture as a strong motivation to aim for academic excellence.

Several headteachers also lauded the initiative, saying the donation had come at a critical time when many parents and guardians were struggling to provide exercise books for their children due to financial challenges. They described the intervention as timely and life-changing, adding that it would greatly ease teaching and learning in the district’s schools.

“This is a timely intervention because some parents genuinely cannot afford to buy exercise books for their wards. Hon. Kwame Amponsah has truly demonstrated leadership with a heart for education,” one headteacher noted.

They further prayed for God’s protection and blessings upon the life of Hon. Kwame Amponsah, saying, “May the good Lord grant all your heart’s desires for the love and care you continue to show to the children of Amansie South.”

The benevolent act by Hon. Kwame Amponsah, popularly known as Home Boy, has since received widespread commendation from teachers, parents, and community members, who praised him for his selflessness and genuine commitment to uplifting the standard of education in the district.

With initiatives like this, Hon. Kwame Amponsah continues to demonstrate exceptional leadership and an unshakable belief that education is the key to unlocking Amansie South’s full potential. His vision, deeply rooted in community empowerment, sets a powerful example for others to follow in championing development through education.
