Amansie South District Will Continue to Remain Faithful to PWDs—Hon. Lawyer Clement Opoku Gyamfi

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie South District, Hon. Clement Opoku Gyamfi, has reiterated the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within the district. According to him, the Assembly will continue to ensure that PWDs receive their rightful share of the District Assembly Common Fund, aimed at improving their livelihoods and enhancing social inclusion.

Speaking at the second presentation ceremony of items to PWD beneficiaries this year, Hon. Clement Opoku Gyamfi highlighted the significant efforts made by the Assembly through its Department of Social Welfare to support PWDs in the district. He revealed that earlier in the year, the Assembly had distributed various items, including deep freezers, sewing machines, and wheelchairs, as well as cash amounts to 48 PWD beneficiaries. This initiative, he noted, underscores the Assembly’s strong commitment to improving the lives of persons with disabilities.

“We are committed to ensuring that Persons with Disabilities in the Amansie South District receive the necessary support to lead dignified lives. This year alone, we have presented various items and financial assistance to 48 PWD beneficiaries. This is a clear demonstration of the Assembly’s commitment to their welfare,” the DCE stated.

He further urged Assembly Members across the various electoral areas to monitor the beneficiaries to ensure that the items they receive are put to proper use. He warned against the selling of these items, emphasizing that they are meant to support the beneficiaries in becoming self-reliant and economically active.

“I want to call on our Assembly Members to keep a close watch on the beneficiaries so that they do not sell these items. The purpose of this support is to enable them to become economically independent, and we expect that they will make good use of the items,” Hon. Opoku Gyamfi added.

In his remarks, the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, who also serves as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manso Adubia Constituency, Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo, lauded the government’s efforts towards promoting social inclusion and creating an enabling environment for PWDs. He reiterated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s dedication to ensuring that PWDs are not left behind in the country’s development agenda.

“The NPP government remains committed to creating an inclusive society where Persons with Disabilities are given equal opportunities. We believe in promoting social inclusion by providing the necessary support to PWDs so they can contribute meaningfully to national development,” Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo said.

He commended the Amansie South District Assembly for its proactive steps in supporting PWDs and urged other districts to emulate their example in ensuring that the needs of vulnerable groups are prioritized.

The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the Assembly and the government for their continuous support. Many of them noted that the items would go a long way to help them improve their livelihoods and contribute to the well-being of their families.

This presentation forms part of the Assembly’s ongoing efforts to uplift persons with disabilities by providing them with tools and resources to become self-reliant, thereby fostering economic and social inclusion in the district.

The Amansie South District has been commended in recent times for its commitment to empowering PWDs, with the hope that other districts will adopt similar measures to ensure the equitable distribution of resources for all.
