Amansie South District Assembly Supports 51 Persons with Disability with Income-Generating Items

The Amansie South District Assembly has extended significant support to 51 persons with disability (PWDs) in the district with the presentation of assorted income-generating items, including refrigerators, fufu pounding machines, and cash, as part of efforts to improve their livelihoods and promote economic inclusion.

The brief presentation ceremony was held at the district capital, after which the District Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Marfo, spoke to the media in an interview. He explained that the intervention forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to empowering vulnerable groups and ensuring that persons with disability are given the necessary support to become economically self-reliant.

Hon. Marfo urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items for their intended purposes, stressing that the support was meant to serve as a source of sustainable income rather than short-term relief. He cautioned the beneficiaries against selling the items, noting that misuse would defeat the purpose of the government’s social protection programmes targeted at improving the welfare of persons with disability.

“The items are meant to help you establish or expand your small businesses and improve your standard of living. I therefore appeal to you to use them responsibly and not to sell them,” the District Chief Executive advised.

On his part, the Chairman of Persons with Disability in the Amansie South District, Mr. Martin Osei Gyimah, expressed profound gratitude to the government and the District Assembly for the support. He described the gesture as timely and impactful, saying it would go a long way to easing the economic challenges faced by many PWDs in the district.

Mr. Gyimah assured the Assembly that the beneficiaries would make productive use of the items and continue to support development initiatives in the district.
The support is in line with government policies aimed at promoting inclusiveness, reducing poverty among vulnerable groups, and ensuring that persons with disability are active participants in local economic development.
