Amansie South DCE Hon. Benjamin Marfo Cuts Sod for Construction of Three New Schools

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Amansie South, Hon. Benjamin Marfo, has officially cut the sod for the construction of three new school projects across the district, aimed at improving educational infrastructure and access for students in underserved communities.

The projects include a 3-unit Junior High School (JHS) block with offices and stores at Manso Watreso, a 6-unit classroom block at Manso Mosikrom, and another 6-unit classroom block at Manso Wahaso. Speaking to the media during the sod-cutting ceremony, Hon. Marfo stated that the initiative forms part of the government’s RESET agenda, designed to enhance teaching and learning conditions in deprived areas.

He highlighted the challenges faced by the beneficiary schools, particularly Mosikrom Primary School, where students currently study under trees or on bare floors due to the poor state of existing classrooms. “Watreso JHS did not have a proper classroom block, which is why the government has decided to construct new classrooms to provide a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning,” he said.

Regarding Manso Wahaso, Hon. Marfo revealed that the community had never had a single classroom block. Children previously walked long distances to neighboring communities such as Kensere Nkwanta, and Aponapom to access education. “This is very sad, and that is why the government has decided to construct the first-ever school facilities for the community,” he added.

The DCE further noted that the construction projects are expected to be completed within six months. The Watreso 3-unit JHS block and Wahaso 6-unit classroom block have been awarded to True Engineers Constructions Limited, while the Mosikrom 6-unit classroom block will be handled by B-Molie Limited. Hon. Marfo also indicated that desks and other teaching materials will be provided upon completion of the projects.

Hon. Marfo commended the chiefs and community leaders for providing land for the projects and urged the contractors to maintain high-quality standards throughout the construction process.

Several queen mothers, chiefs, and assembly members expressed gratitude to the government and the Amansie South District Assembly for initiating the projects. They pledged their full support to the contractors to ensure the successful and timely completion of the schools.

In response, Mr. Douglas Cobbah, contractor for True Engineers Constructions Limited, assured the communities that the projects would be executed to the highest standard.

The construction of these new classroom blocks is expected to significantly enhance educational access and learning conditions for hundreds of children in Manso Watreso, Mosikrom, and Wahaso, marking a long-awaited improvement in the district’s educational infrastructure.
