Amalia NDC Slams Subin Executives Over School Feeding Slot Corruption, Cries for Mahama’s Intervention

A leading grassroots figure within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Subin Constituency, Ms. Zainabu Ibrahim—widely known as Amalia NDC—has broken her silence over what she describes as years of neglect and injustice meted out to loyal party supporters in her ward.

Ms. Ibrahim, the Women’s Organiser for Ward 6 and a prominent businesswoman, accused some Constituency Executives of side-lining hardworking party members in the distribution of government-backed social interventions, particularly the School Feeding Programme. According to her, the slots meant to benefit NDC women in the constituency are instead being sold to non-party members for personal gain.

In an exclusive interaction with The Press, she revealed that despite sacrificing her time, resources, and reputation for the NDC for more than 30 years, she and many others like her in Subin have been deliberately overlooked.

“It’s heartbreaking. I’ve given my all to this party in an NPP-dominated area, where even declaring your loyalty to the NDC brings mockery and intimidation. Yet, when it’s time to share opportunities, those who never sweat for the party are the ones who benefit,” Amalia lamented.

She did not mince words in pointing out that the neglect of true supporters has contributed to the NDC’s repeated failure to make electoral gains in Subin. She argued that party loyalists feel betrayed and discouraged, leading to apathy during elections.

“People ask why we remain in the NDC when we get nothing in return. This is part of why the party keeps losing in Subin. If those who work hardest are ignored, how can we motivate others to join and fight for victory?” she quizzed.

Ms. Ibrahim also stressed the need for economic empowerment among women in the constituency, saying that poverty continues to plague many of them due to the lack of support and opportunities.

She used the platform to make a passionate appeal to former President John Dramani Mahama to directly support the women of Subin with startup capital and loans to help improve their economic standing.

“We don’t want to beg—we want to work. If President Mahama can help us with capital, we will grow our businesses, take care of our families, and support the party with even greater strength. Please, we are pleading with him to hear our cry,” she said emotionally.

As the December 7 elections draw near, Amalia NDC’s public outcry serves as a wake-up call for the party’s leadership to reassess its internal support mechanisms and ensure that loyalty and sacrifice at the grassroots level are duly recognised and rewarded.
