Akutuasehene Promotes Skills Training to Drive Youth Empowerment

The Chief of Akutuase, Nana Asare Bediako, has urged the youth of Ghana to embrace Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a powerful tool for self-reliance, job creation, and national development.

Nana Asare Bediako made the appeal during the Annual Harvest and Fundraising Ceremony held to support the construction of an ultra-modern Social Centre for the people of Akutuase in the Asante Akim North District of the Ashanti Region.

Addressing a large gathering of residents, opinion leaders, and stakeholders, the Akutuasehene emphasized that practical skills training is essential for equipping young people to meet the demands of the modern economy. He noted that while general education provides theoretical knowledge, TVET delivers hands-on skills that enable youth to become entrepreneurs, innovators, and productive contributors to the nation’s growth.

“Skills training is the foundation of youth empowerment. If our young people embrace TVET, they can create jobs for themselves and others, reduce unemployment, and help drive the socio-economic development of Ghana,” Nana Asare Bediako stated.

The Chief also praised the people of Akutuase for their unity and commitment towards the development of their community, particularly their collective effort to support the Social Centre project. He described the initiative as a model of communal cooperation and shared responsibility.

He encouraged all residents, including those living in the diaspora, to continue contributing to the Social Centre project to ensure its successful completion, stressing that community-driven initiatives are key to sustainable development.

The Annual Harvest and Fundraising Ceremony, which attracted strong participation from residents, stakeholders, and opinion leaders, provided a platform for the Akutuasehene to reiterate the importance of TVET and skills training for national growth, while also highlighting the positive impact of unity and collaboration in community development.

Nana Asare Bediako’s message reinforced the need for Ghana’s youth to focus on acquiring practical skills, and for communities to take active ownership of their development initiatives, ensuring that projects such as the Social Centre leave a lasting legacy for present and future generations.
