Akutuase Sets Development Agenda with Ultra-Modern Social Centre Project
Residents of Akutuase in the Asante Akim North District of the Ashanti Region have set a clear development agenda for their community with the commencement of an ultra-modern Social Centre project, driven by unity, self-help and collective responsibility.
The ambitious project was officially highlighted during the town’s Annual Harvest and Fundraising Ceremony held in aid of the Akutuase Social Centre. The initiative is expected to provide a central facility for social, cultural, educational and developmental activities, while strengthening community cohesion and local governance.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief of Akutuase, Nana Asare Bediako, commended the residents for their strong sense of unity and commitment to development. He described the Social Centre project as a shining example of what communities can achieve when they come together with a shared vision and purpose.
Nana Asare Bediako praised the sacrifices and contributions made by both residents at home and those living outside the community, stressing that sustainable development thrives on communal effort rather than sole dependence on external support. He encouraged the people to maintain the spirit of togetherness that has characterized the project so far.

Touching on national development and youth empowerment, the Akutuasehene urged Ghanaians, especially the youth, to place greater emphasis on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). According to him, TVET remains a practical and transformative pathway that equips young people with employable skills and promotes self-reliance.
He described TVET as a game changer for Ghana’s development, noting that the nation’s progress depends largely on skilled manpower capable of driving industrial growth, innovation and entrepreneurship. Nana Asare Bediako called on parents and guardians to support their children to pursue technical and vocational careers without prejudice.

On behalf of the Akutuase Harvest Committee, Mr. Hanson Gyimah provided detailed information on the Social Centre project. He explained that the facility is designed to serve as a multipurpose centre for meetings, ceremonies, training programmes and other community activities.
Mr. Gyimah disclosed that the project is being funded through voluntary contributions, donations and proceeds from the annual harvest, and appealed for continued support to ensure its successful and timely completion. He expressed confidence that the Social Centre would significantly enhance social life, planning and development coordination in Akutuase.

The Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Samuel Asafo Adjei, also addressed the gathering and appealed to all Akutuase residents, both at home and in the diaspora, to contribute generously towards the project. He emphasized that the Social Centre is a legacy project that will benefit current and future generations.
Hon. Asafo Adjei reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the traditional authority and community members to attract development to the area. He stressed that collaboration between local leadership and residents remains key to accelerating development and improving living standards.

The Annual Harvest and Fundraising Ceremony attracted strong participation from residents, opinion leaders and stakeholders, underscoring Akutuase’s determination to take charge of its development agenda through unity, shared sacrifice and visionary leadership.
