Akutuase Residents Launch Social Centre Project to Boost Community Development
Residents of Akutuase in the Asante Akim North District of the Ashanti Region have officially launched a community-driven Social Centre project aimed at promoting development, strengthening unity and improving social life in the area.

The project was brought to the fore during the community’s Annual Harvest and Fundraising Ceremony held in support of the construction of the ultra-modern Social Centre. The facility, when completed, is expected to serve as a multipurpose hub for social, cultural, educational and developmental activities for the people of Akutuase.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief of Akutuase, Nana Asare Bediako, commended the residents for their unity, dedication and commitment towards the development of the community. He described the Social Centre project as a clear demonstration of what can be achieved when residents take ownership of their development through collective effort and shared responsibility.
Nana Asare Bediako praised the contributions made by both residents living in the community and those in the diaspora, noting that such support is crucial to the successful completion of the project. He urged the people to sustain the spirit of unity and cooperation that has characterized the initiative so far.

The Akutuasehene also used the occasion to advocate for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a key driver of national development. He encouraged parents and guardians to guide the youth towards technical and vocational education, stressing that TVET provides practical skills that enhance employability, entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
According to Nana Asare Bediako, TVET remains a game changer for Ghana’s development agenda, as the country’s progress largely depends on a skilled workforce capable of supporting industrial growth and innovation, especially among the youth.

On behalf of the Akutuase Harvest Committee, Mr. Hanson Gyimah gave a detailed presentation on the Social Centre project. He explained that the facility is designed to serve multiple purposes, including hosting meetings, social functions, training programmes and other community activities.
Mr. Gyimah indicated that the project is being financed through proceeds from the annual harvest, voluntary contributions and donations from residents and well-wishers. He appealed to all natives of Akutuase to continue supporting the initiative to ensure its timely and successful completion.

The Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Samuel Asafo Adjei, also addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of collaboration among traditional authorities, residents and local government in driving sustainable development.
Hon. Asafo Adjei appealed to Akutuase residents both at home and abroad to contribute generously towards the Social Centre project, describing it as a legacy initiative that will benefit present and future generations. He assured the community of his commitment to supporting development efforts and working closely with all stakeholders to improve the living conditions of the people.

The Annual Harvest and Fundraising Ceremony attracted strong participation from residents, opinion leaders and stakeholders, reflecting the shared determination of the people of Akutuase to advance their development agenda through unity, self-help and visionary leadership.
