Akrofuom District Assembly Commissions New Classroom Block for Nyamebekyere DA Primary School

The Akrofuom District Assembly has commissioned a newly built 3-unit classroom block for the Nyamebekyere DA Primary School, bringing renewed hope to pupils and teachers in the community. The official handing-over ceremony took place on Friday, May 23, 2025, amidst joy and appreciation from school authorities and residents.

The project, which began in June 2024, was fully funded through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) under the Responsive Factor Grant – VI (RFG), and was constructed by Taw J Company Limited. In addition to the classrooms, the building includes a headteacher’s office and a storeroom, offering a more organized and conducive space for teaching and learning.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Gariba Mohammed Mustapha, who presented the keys to the school’s Headteacher, Mr. Asamoah, encouraged school management to take good care of the facility. He emphasized that the government, through the Assembly, remains committed to promoting quality education and bridging the infrastructure gap in rural areas.

“We are not only providing buildings; we are laying the foundation for the future of our children,” the DCE said. “Let us all support the school by maintaining the facility and ensuring its proper use.”

The DCE used the occasion to appeal to parents, teachers, and community leaders to continue working closely with the Assembly to ensure sustained progress in education delivery.

Traditional leader of the community, Nana Asamoah, who is the Odikro of Nyamebekyere, lauded the Assembly’s efforts and thanked the DCE for the intervention. He, however, called on authorities to consider constructing toilet and water facilities for the school, stressing that the current arrangement—where pupils and teachers cross a road to access public facilities—is not ideal and poses safety and health risks.

Prior to the commissioning, Hon. Mustapha paid a courtesy call on the Gyasehene of Akrofuom, Nana Anin Agyekum II, at his residence in Sikaman. The Gyasehene expressed his appreciation for the Assembly’s developmental initiatives and assured the DCE of his unflinching support and blessings.

Hon. Mustapha was accompanied by the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Ebenezer Douglas Ntiamoah; the District Information Officer, Mr. Francis Andoh; and other officials from the Akrofuom District Assembly.

The new classroom block is expected to significantly ease congestion in the school, improve learning outcomes, and inspire greater enthusiasm among pupils and teachers alike.
