The Member of Parliament for the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, has donated life-saving medical equipment valued at GH¢100,000 to the Ahafo Ano South West District Health Directorate at Mankranso to enhance healthcare delivery across the district.

The donation forms part of the MP’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare system within the constituency and ensuring that health facilities are adequately equipped to provide quality medical services to residents. The items presented included oxygen cylinders, nebulisers, oxygen concentrators, a scanning machine, a microscope, chairs, and other essential medical equipment required to support healthcare delivery in the district.

Speaking to the media during a brief presentation ceremony, the Special Assistant to the Member of Parliament, Mr. Prosper Ahamah, explained that the intervention became necessary after it was observed that several health facilities within the district lacked critical medical equipment needed for effective service delivery.

According to him, although the district has adequate and committed health professionals working across its facilities, the absence of essential medical equipment has often made it difficult for healthcare workers to provide the expected level of care, particularly in emergency situations where oxygen and other life-saving devices are required.

Mr. Ahamah emphasised that the Ahafo Ano South West MP, Hon. Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, places a high priority on the health and wellbeing of his constituents and remains committed to supporting the district’s health directorate with the necessary resources to improve healthcare delivery.

He added that the MP’s vision is to ensure that the Ahafo Ano South West District becomes one of the best-performing districts in the Ashanti Region in terms of quality and accessible healthcare services.

Receiving the items on behalf of the directorate, the District Health Director, Dr. Jerry Adu Amankwah, expressed profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament for the timely and thoughtful intervention.

Dr. Adu Amankwah noted that many health facilities in the district have been struggling to adequately care for patients who require oxygen therapy due to the limited availability of life-saving equipment.

He stated that the newly donated equipment would significantly improve the capacity of health facilities across the district to respond to emergencies and provide better care for patients.

The District Health Director also appealed to individuals, corporate organisations, and other stakeholders to support the directorate in its efforts to improve healthcare delivery across the district.

According to him, partnerships and support from well-meaning individuals and institutions remain crucial in addressing the challenges facing the health sector and ensuring that residents of the Ahafo Ano South West District have access to quality and reliable healthcare services.
