Ahafo Ano South East Records 100% BECE Pass Rate as DCE Outlines Development Agenda

The Ahafo Ano South East District has recorded an impressive 100 per cent pass rate in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), a feat that underscores the district’s growing commitment to quality education and effective stakeholder collaboration.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Nelson Yamba Issaka Ibrahim, announced the achievement while delivering his sessional address at the Third Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the Ahafo Ano South East District Assembly, held on December 22, 2025. He disclosed that a total of 1,552 candidates who sat for the examination successfully passed, describing the outcome as a collective success involving learners, teachers, school authorities, parents and education stakeholders.

Beyond education, the DCE used the occasion to outline the broader development agenda of the Assembly, with particular emphasis on infrastructure, agriculture, governance and social services. He stressed that access to quality road networks remains a key strategy for enhancing food production and boosting local economic development, especially for farmers in rural communities under the government’s Feed Ghana Programme.

Presenting a status report on the implementation of programmes and projects of the Assembly, Hon. Yamba stated that as at November 2025, the Assembly had mobilised GH¢379,348.00 as Internally Generated Funds (IGF), representing 36.55 per cent of the projected target of GH¢1,038,000.00. He noted that no disbursement was received from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) Secretariat during the period under review.

On the Persons with Disability (PWD) Fund, the DCE informed the Assembly that GH¢507,896.58 had been received for the first, second and third quarters of 2025, against a budgeted amount of GH¢863,218.39, representing 58.84 per cent. He assured the House of the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring that the fund is utilised judiciously to improve the welfare of persons living with disabilities in the district.

Touching on security, Hon. Yamba noted that the district continued to enjoy relative peace and stability, attributing this to the strong collaboration among the security agencies. He said the District Security Council (DISEC) remains resolute in its mandate to address security threats through coordinated and proactive measures to safeguard lives and property.

Under projects and programmes, the DCE outlined a number of development projects earmarked for implementation under the 2025 DACF, indicating that contracts had been awarded and work had commenced. These include the construction of two CHPS compounds with nurses’ quarters at Nsuta and Mofra Mantukwa, a two-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Nimfourkrom, a three-unit Junior High School block with ancillary facilities at Banahene, and a six-unit primary school block at Sabronum Nyambekyere. The Assembly is also undertaking the drilling of five mechanised boreholes and the installation of five hand-pump boreholes in selected communities.

On governance, Hon. Yamba disclosed that the District Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP) had been initiated and prepared in accordance with the National Development Policy Framework and guidelines, and subsequently certified by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).

In the area of agriculture, the DCE reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting rural farmers to boost productivity, improve resilience and enhance their livelihoods. He announced that the Nkoko Nketenkete poultry initiative is ongoing and assured that applicants would soon receive their chicks to commence backyard poultry farming across the district.

He concluded by calling for sustained cooperation among traditional authorities, assembly members and development partners to accelerate development and consolidate the gains made in education and other key sectors in Ahafo Ano South East.
