Ahafo Ano North: You’re destroying the party- Concerned NPP members tell Nana Agyemang Prempeh

Several members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency of the Ashanti Region have expressed their concerns about the actions of Eric Nana Agyemang Prempeh, and have called on the National and regional executives to intervene.

They allege that his actions are detrimental to the party’s progress in the constituency.

According to sources, a group that was planning to hold a press conference to expose the activities of Nana Agyeman Prempeh was reportedly stopped by a powerful individual in the community.

This unexpected intervention left many gathered at the venue shocked and surprised, as the person, whose name has been withheld, ordered the discontinuation of the conference.

However, the media sighted a statement drafted by the group, which outlined a series of issues related to Nana Eric Agyeman-Prempeh, the parliamentary candidate and Director General of NADMO, as well as the constituency Chairman and Secretary.

They have been accused of contributing to the party’s declining popularity and attractiveness, which could impact the party in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

The concerned members claim that Nana Agyemang Prempeh and others have undermined the current MP, Hon Suleman Adamu Sanid, to the extent that he decided not to contest the seat again. Similar actions were allegedly taken against the former MCE, Hon Martina Appiah Nyantakyi, leading to her dismissal.

“They have continually undermined our current MP, Hon Suleman Adamu Sanid, to the extent that Hon Sule decided not to contest the seat again. They have done same to the former MCE, Hon Martina Appiah Nyantakyi leading to her dismissal,” the group said in a statement.

Nana Agyemang Prempeh is further accused of orchestrating the transfer of public sector workers, particularly teachers, whom he perceives as opponents in the constituency.

The group highlighted the recent transfers of teachers from Tepa Secondary School, who were instrumental in the NPP’s victories in 2016 and 2020. They fear that other active NPP members may also face transfers due to their opposition to his alleged bullying and vindictive tactics.

The group also expressed concern about Nana Agyemang Prempeh’s involvement in the selection of a known member of the opposition NDC as the MCE, following the removal of the former MCE in the area.

They also accused Nana Agyemang Prempeh of operating in a dictatorial manner, excluding party executives and other important members from decision-making processes within the constituency. They claimed that party executives have not convened in the past 7 months to address reports of threats, intimidation, and physical abuse of perceived “enemies.”

“In fact, it can be confirmed that party executives have not met in the past 7months to discuss party issues or even address reports of threats, intimidation, and physical abuse of perceived “enemies,” the statement indicated.

The concerned members expressed disappointment in the party’s council of elders and patrons for allegedly ignoring the reported incidents, some of which have been published on the party’s various WhatsApp platforms.

They suggested that these party elders, patrons, and council of elders may be influenced by Nana Agyeman Prempeh due to their alleged financial ties to him.

In light of these concerns, the group is urging the national and regional executives of the New Patriotic Party to promptly address the issues, investigate the reported incidents, and take decisive action against Nana Eric Agyeman-Prempeh.

They emphasized that failure to act may irreparably damage the party’s image and standing in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency.
