Ahafo Ano North MCE Joins Tepa Muslims to Celebrate Eid Adha, Commends Mahama’s Support for Hajj and Education

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ahafo Ano North, Hon. Akwasi Adusei, joined the Muslim community at the Tepa Central Mosque on Friday to mark the celebration of Eid Adha, one of the most sacred occasions on the Islamic calendar. The event was a vibrant display of unity, faith, and community spirit as Muslims gathered to offer prayers and commemorate the historic sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim.
Dressed in traditional regalia and warmly received by Muslim leaders and congregants, Hon. Adusei extended his heartfelt wishes to the faithful and expressed his admiration for the discipline, devotion, and peaceful nature of the Muslim community in Tepa and across the municipality. He acknowledged the important role Muslims continue to play in the development of the area and prayed for Allah’s blessings upon them.
“I am honoured to be part of this sacred celebration with our Muslim brothers and sisters,” he said. “May Allah accept your prayers and sacrifices and continue to grant us peace and progress as a people.”
In his remarks, Hon. Adusei took the opportunity to commend the efforts of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama in promoting the welfare of the Muslim community, especially through his consistent support for the Hajj pilgrimage. He described the former president’s commitment to assisting Ghanaian Muslims in fulfilling this important religious obligation as remarkable.
He further praised president Mahama’s proposed Free University Education policy, which he said would open doors of opportunity for countless Ghanaian youth, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds. According to the MCE, the initiative holds great promise for communities like Tepa, where access to higher education remains a challenge for many brilliant but needy students.
“The support for the Hajj program and the plan for free university education are clear indicators of leadership that prioritizes inclusion and national development. These policies will bring real transformation to our young people and empower our communities,” Hon. Adusei stated.
The MCE encouraged residents of Ahafo Ano North to uphold the values of unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence, adding that these are critical pillars for sustainable development. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to working with all religious and ethnic groups to promote the growth and wellbeing of the municipality.
The Eid celebration was attended by Imams, Zongo leaders, traditional authorities, assembly members, youth leaders, and hundreds of Muslims, all of whom expressed their appreciation to the MCE for his presence and words of encouragement.
Eid Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the obedience and faith of Prophet Ibrahim and is observed with special prayers, feasting, and acts of charity. The occasion is also an opportunity for reflection, community bonding, and reaffirmation of faith.
Hon. Adusei’s participation in the celebration not only reinforced the strong ties between the Assembly and the Muslim community but also demonstrated his administration’s inclusive approach to leadership and governance. His visit was widely praised by attendees as a symbol of respect, unity, and shared commitment to the progress of Ahafo Ano North.
