Agogo College Alumni Commission State-of-the-Art Library Honouring Former Principal
In a powerful display of unity, vision, and commitment to educational excellence, alumni of Agogo Presbyterian College of Education in the Asante-Akim North Municipal District of the Ashanti Region have successfully renovated and commissioned a state-of-the-art library facility. The newly upgraded library was officially dedicated in honour of Ms. Vida Anno Kwakye, the college’s seventh principal, whose outstanding leadership and lifelong service to teacher education left an indelible mark on the institution.

The commissioning ceremony, which brought together dignitaries, faculty, alumni, students, and traditional leaders, also served as a celebration of the joint anniversaries of the 1975, 1985, 1995, and 2000 graduating year groups. These cohorts, marking their Golden, Ruby, Pearl, and Silver anniversaries respectively, pooled resources to transform the college’s library into a modern hub for research, academic exploration, and innovation.
Modern Facility for Future Educators
The fully renovated library now features a refreshed design, improved infrastructure, and updated learning resources to create a conducive academic environment. Designed to support both students and faculty, the facility is equipped to meet the evolving demands of teacher training in Ghana, with spaces tailored for research, study, and professional development.

The project is not just a symbol of alumni loyalty but also a demonstration of their dedication to nurturing the next generation of educators who will shape the nation’s future.
Call for Lifelong Learning

In her keynote address, Dr. Veronica Adu Brobbey, National President of the Alumni Association of Agogo Presbyterian College of Education, emphasized the importance of continuous learning for teachers, urging young educators to embrace lifelong professional development in today’s dynamic world. “Education is a lifelong journey. Completing teacher training college is not the end of learning but rather the foundation. To transform lives and contribute to national development, our young teachers must embrace continuous training, innovation, and new teaching methods,” she said.

Dr. Adu Brobbey praised the alumni for their generosity and vision, calling on other past students of the institution to support similar projects to advance teacher education and strengthen the legacy of Agogo Presbyterian College of Education.
Leadership Praise and Legacy

Vice Principal of the college, Mr. Richard Akwasi Frimpong, commended the alumni for their exceptional contribution to the institution’s growth, describing the renovated library as a “legacy project” that would inspire generations to come. “This library will transform the learning environment at Agogo Presbyterian College of Education. It is a legacy that will continue to inspire students, equip teachers, and uphold the college’s proud tradition of excellence,” he stated.

The dedication of the library to Ms. Vida Anno Kwakye was met with heartfelt tributes, with many recalling her leadership, mentorship, and contributions during her tenure as principal. Alumni and faculty described her as a visionary leader whose name now lives on as a symbol of inspiration.
A Colourful and Memorable Event

The commissioning ceremony was a vibrant affair, marked by cultural performances, speeches, and the presence of traditional leaders, alumni representatives, and members of the local community. The event not only showcased the strong bond between the college and its alumni but also emphasized the critical role of collaboration in improving educational infrastructure across Ghana.

By upgrading the library, Agogo Presbyterian College of Education reaffirms its mission of producing highly skilled and forward-thinking educators equipped to meet 21st-century teaching standards. The facility stands as a shining testament to what alumni unity, dedication, and vision can achieve.
As the sun set over Agogo, the modernized library was not just a building but a beacon of hope—a symbol of excellence, respect, and commitment to shaping a brighter future for education in Ghana.
