Afigya Kwabre South MCE Commissions Ten-Seater Toilet Facility at Afrancho D/A Primary School to Boost Sanitation and Learning Environment

In a significant move to improve sanitation and promote a healthy learning environment, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Afigya Kwabre South, Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah, has commissioned a newly constructed ten-seater toilet facility for Afrancho D/A Primary School.

The commissioning ceremony, held on Friday, drew the presence of key stakeholders in the municipality, including the Municipal Director of Education, the Headmistress and staff of the school, students, opinion leaders, and community members.

In her keynote address, Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to investing in educational infrastructure across the country. She stressed that a clean and hygienic school environment is a critical component of quality education and student well-being. “As a government, we understand that education goes beyond just classrooms and textbooks. Proper sanitation facilities are essential for the dignity, health, and concentration of our students,” she said.

Hon. Ankrah further assured the community that the Assembly remains committed to initiating and completing more development projects that will enhance educational outcomes and community welfare.

The Headmistress of Afrancho D/A Primary School, Mrs. Serwaa Agyemang, expressed deep appreciation to the Municipal Assembly and the government for their timely intervention. She noted that the new toilet facility would significantly improve hygiene conditions in the school, especially for the growing student population.

“We are truly grateful for this facility. It will ease pressure on our limited sanitation infrastructure and help curb absenteeism among pupils, especially girls. However, like Oliver Twist, we are asking for more,” she said with a smile, drawing laughter and applause from the audience.

The brief but impactful ceremony concluded with a tour of the facility led by the MCE and other dignitaries. The newly commissioned toilet block includes separate compartments for boys and girls, a dedicated section for staff, and handwashing stations, all built to standard specifications to ensure durability and ease of maintenance.

Local community leaders and parents have pledged their support in maintaining the facility to serve its purpose for years to come. The project stands as a testament to the fruitful collaboration between the Afigya Kwabre South Municipal Assembly and the Ghana Education Service in advancing education and community development.
