Aduana Family of Jachie Paninase Krofrom Refutes Nana Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV’s Burial Land Accusation

The Spokesperson for the Aduana Royal Family of Jachie Paninase Krofrom in the Bosomtwe District, Opanin Edward Darko, has strongly refuted claims made by Nana Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV, Chief of Jachie, accusing the family of unlawfully burying a deceased relative on his land.
Reacting to the recent media statement by Nana Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV, Opanin Edward Darko described the allegations as “faulty and misleading.” According to him, the deceased in question, a respected elder and grandfather of the Aduana family, passed away between three to four months ago after visiting his children.
Opanin Darko explained that, given the royal status of the late grandfather, the children of the deceased approached the family and sought permission to organize the funeral at their residence and proceed with the burial at his rightful hometown.
“As a royal, our grandfather was entitled to be buried at the designated royal cemetery of the Aduana family,” he said.
He stressed that the burial site in question is not just any parcel of land, but a recognized royal cemetery under the oversight of the local authorities.
“The place where we buried our grandfather is a recognized royal cemetery under government supervision. We always pay the necessary permit fees before conducting any burial there,” he emphasized. “This is not an unregulated or illegal activity; it is part of our tradition and heritage.”
Opanin Darko further revealed that after the burial had been completed, the family later discovered that the burial site had been disturbed. He expressed deep dismay over what he described as a desecration of sacred grounds and called for respect for the cultural and spiritual significance of royal burial lands.
He also debunked claims that military personnel had invaded the area or participated in the burial.
“No soldier has stepped foot on the land,” he clarified. “The only security presence during the burial was the son of the deceased, who is a police officer. He was there solely in his private capacity to mourn his father.”
Reiterating the family’s stance, Opanin Edward Darko maintained that every royal family in the Akan tradition has a designated burial ground, and the Aduana family of Jachie Paninase Krofrom is no exception.
He concluded by calling on the chief of Jachie, Nana Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV, to refrain from making what he described as “baseless and damaging” public statements that could cause unnecessary tension and dishonor the memory of a respected elder.
