Adansi Asokwa DRIP Coordinator Majid Governor Launches Major Road Reshaping Project in Bodwesango and Anwiaso
The District Roads Improvement Project (DRIP) Coordinator for the Adansi Asokwa District in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Majid Governor, has commenced a major town road reshaping exercise in the communities of Bodwesango and Anwiaso to improve accessibility, ease transportation challenges, and boost local economic activities.

The intervention, being spearheaded by the Decentralized Road Improvement Project (DRIP) Secretariat, is expected to bring lasting relief to residents and commuters who have endured poor road conditions in the two communities for several years.

Speaking to the media during an inspection of the ongoing works, Mr. Majid Governor explained that the primary objective of the project is to enhance rural road networks across the district to support socio-economic development. He stated that the scope of work includes regrading, graveling, reshaping, and spot improvements to ensure smoother and safer movement for residents, traders, and transport operators.
“So far, we have successfully regraded and reshaped the Bodwesango town roads through to the Anwiaso stretch, and the results are already visible,” he noted.

Mr. Majid Governor emphasized that the intervention forms part of a broader district-wide plan to improve road infrastructure, particularly in rural communities where deplorable road conditions have negatively affected transportation, access to social services, and local commerce.

Residents of Bodwesango and Anwiaso have welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and long overdue. Some community members recounted how the poor state of the roads had previously discouraged taxi and tricycle operators from using the stretch, making movement difficult and costly.

With the reshaping works now underway, residents say they are already experiencing relief. “Now, with the reshaping, we can save money and time, and our children can also go to school safely,” a resident remarked.
Mr. Majid Governor further appealed to traditional authorities, opinion leaders, and community representatives within the district to liaise directly with the DRIP Secretariat to access equipment and technical support. He assured residents that all communities in the Adansi Asokwa District would benefit from the ongoing road reshaping programme.

The project is expected to significantly improve mobility, stimulate local trade, and provide safer routes for schoolchildren, farmers, and transport operators, reinforcing the district’s commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
