Abroso Ladies and Gents Association Marks First Anniversary with Community Cleanup and Outreach Activities

The Abroso Ladies and Gents Association in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality has celebrated its first anniversary with a series of community-focused events aimed at improving local welfare and fostering a sense of unity among residents. The celebration, which took place from January 24 to January 26, 2025, featured a range of activities, including a cleanup exercise, community donations, sporting events, and a grand dinner.

The anniversary celebration kicked off on Friday, January 24, with a major cleanup exercise that brought together members of the association and local residents. The group worked together to clean public spaces, raise awareness about sanitation, and promote environmental cleanliness in Abroso.

Madam Ophila Ayensu, the chairperson of the Abroso Ladies and Gents Association, spoke to the media after the cleanup. She stressed the association’s commitment to supporting vulnerable community members and driving positive change through impactful social programs.

“We have always been focused on improving the lives of those who need it most in our community. Today’s cleanup is just one of the many ways we aim to make a lasting difference,” Madam Ayensu said.

She also expressed her gratitude to their patron, Hon. Alex Yaw Baakoh, known as Nana Abroso, the Assembly Member for the Himan Electoral Area. Madam Ayensu praised Nana Abroso for his continued support and efforts in advancing social development in the area.

“Hon. Alex Yaw Baakoh has been a great partner in our journey. His support through various social initiatives in education, health, and sanitation has helped uplift many lives in our community. His leadership is truly exemplary,” she noted.

Following the cleanup exercise, the celebrations continued with a vibrant float in the afternoon. The float paraded through the streets of Himan and Abroso, attracting attention and generating excitement about the association’s work and ongoing efforts.

On Saturday, January 25, the association held a donation drive, providing essential items to elderly community members as part of their commitment to supporting the vulnerable. The day also included a football match between local teams — Abroso Operator Boys, Somp Boys, and Masters — which served as a fun and unifying event for the community.

The anniversary festivities concluded on Sunday, January 26, with a grand dinner at the Methodist School Park, bringing together members, patrons, and community leaders to reflect on the association’s successes and look ahead to future initiatives.

Madam Ayensu took the opportunity to reiterate the group’s unwavering commitment to addressing social issues and improving the living conditions of people in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality. She assured residents that the association would continue to work closely with local authorities and other stakeholders to expand its positive impact.
