The Abroso Ladies and Gents Association in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality has celebrated its first anniversary with a range of impactful activities designed to foster community development, improve livelihoods, and promote environmental cleanliness. The three-day celebration, which ran from January 24 to January 26, 2025, included a cleanup exercise, donations to the elderly, sporting events, and a grand dinner.
The celebrations began on the morning of Friday, January 24, with a community-wide cleanup exercise. Members of the association, joined by residents of Abroso, cleaned public spaces, enhanced sanitation, and educated the community on the importance of maintaining a hygienic environment.
Madam Ophila Ayensu, Chairperson of the association, addressed the media after the cleanup exercise. She emphasized that the association was established to support vulnerable members of the community and to drive initiatives that promote social development.
“Our goal as an association is to improve the welfare of the less privileged in our community, and today’s cleanup exercise is a reflection of our commitment to this cause,” Madam Ayensu said.
She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to their patron, Hon. Alex Yaw Baakoh, affectionately known as Nana Abroso, the Assembly Member for the Himan Electoral Area. She acknowledged his unwavering support for the group and his remarkable contributions to community development.
“Hon. Alex Yaw Baakoh has been a pillar of support for our association. His social intervention projects in education, health, and sanitation have had a tremendous impact on the lives of people in this area. His developmental efforts are truly unmatched,” she added.
The celebrations continued later on Friday with a lively float through the streets of Himan and Abroso, which energized the community and highlighted the association’s achievements over the past year.
On Saturday, January 25, the association turned its focus to supporting the elderly by distributing essential items to them as part of their anniversary outreach program. The day’s activities also featured a football match between Abroso Operator Boys, Somp Boys, and Masters, providing entertainment and fostering camaraderie among residents.
The festivities concluded on the evening of Sunday, January 26, with a grand dinner at the Methodist School Park. Members, patrons, and stakeholders gathered to celebrate the association’s achievements, share ideas, and plan for future initiatives.
During the event, Madam Ayensu reiterated the association’s mission to address social challenges and improve the quality of life for residents in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality.
