A committed member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Abdulai Abdul-Razak has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Constituency Secretary in the Tamale South Constituency, signaling a renewed push to strengthen the party’s administrative and grassroots structures ahead of future political engagements.
In a well-articulated declaration following what he described as extensive consultations with party stakeholders, Abdul-Razak emphasized his unwavering loyalty and dedication to the ideals of the NPP, whose guiding philosophy is anchored on development in freedom. He noted that although he previously contested for the same position in 2023 without success, his commitment to the party’s growth and unity has remained resolute.
Over the years, Abdul-Razak has continued to play an active role in party activities across all 23 electoral areas within the constituency. His dedication earned him the responsibility of serving as Acting Communication Officer in April 2024, following the departure of the substantive officer. In that capacity, he demonstrated professionalism, humility, and strategic communication skills in promoting the party’s policies and campaign activities.
Drawing on his strong writing background, he effectively projected the achievements and programmes of the NPP in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections. According to him, these efforts significantly amplified the visibility of the party’s activities in the constituency, positioning it as a focal point of political discourse nationwide during the election period.
Addressing questions surrounding his decision to contest for the secretary position instead of the now-elective communication officer role, Abdul-Razak underscored the need for a transformative shift in the constituency’s administrative framework. He stressed that his accumulated experience and insights place him in a strong position to drive innovation, enhance internal coordination, and introduce forward-looking strategies that will reposition the party for electoral success.
He further highlighted that the administrative arm of any political party serves as its engine, and in an evolving political landscape, effective leadership requires strategic thinking, inclusiveness, and adaptability. Having worked closely with some of the party’s leading figures over the years, he believes he possesses the requisite expertise to strengthen the operational base of the NPP in Tamale South.
Looking ahead, Abdul-Razak revealed that his campaign will be anchored on the theme, “Smart Collaboration for a New Paradigm Shift,” supported by seven thematic policy areas designed to reinvigorate the party and secure victory in future elections. He expressed optimism that his vision would mark a historic turning point for the constituency, which has existed since 2004.
He concluded his declaration with a passionate appeal to party faithful to rally behind his candidacy, promising to serve with dignity, respect, commitment, hard work, and perseverance. He reaffirmed his readiness to unite members and lead the party toward a renewed sense of purpose and electoral triumph.
