Residents of of Fawode in the Kwabre East District in the Ashanti Region are demanding the close down of their Public toilet as the sewage pump through which the feces passes is causing a serious problem to the people around the vicinity.
A resident, Mr. Peter Kwaku Kwarteng Speaking to Angel Fm’s Bawah Baidoo disclosed that, he constructed the gutter that the toilet owner has directed the waste into, but whenever he report the situation to the person who is in charge of the toilet, it turns into a quarrelled so he is appealing to the authorities of the community to find something better to go by as they can’t also suffer from the stench as he demands the close down of the toilet.
Another residents who also operate a private school called Matters of Ghana International School said, his school which was established about 15 years ago is now collapsing as a result of the stench produces by the feaces that passes through the gutter.
Meanwhile the Assemblyman for Fawode Bampenase electoral area Hon. Williams Assamoah on his said revealed that, after the residents complained to him, he took a bold step with the environmental office to close the toilet.
According to Hon. willie after closing the toilet the contract fixed it that why they open it for him, so he want to sound a strong warning to Mr. Gabriel to fixed the situation by tomorrow he will close the toilet again.
