Fifty brilliant but financially disadvantaged tertiary students in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality have received scholarships from the Member of Parliament, Shirley Kyei, in a strategic effort to expand access to higher education and enhance academic excellence within the constituency.

The scholarship package, financed through the MPs’ Common Fund, was presented at a well-attended ceremony involving education stakeholders, local authorities, and beneficiaries. The initiative seeks to alleviate the financial challenges faced by students from underprivileged backgrounds while promoting continuity and success in tertiary education.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Shirley Kyei reaffirmed her commitment to education as a cornerstone of national development and individual empowerment. She explained that the scholarship scheme forms part of a broader vision to invest in the youth and build a strong human capital base for the future of the constituency.

She urged the beneficiaries to remain focused, disciplined, and dedicated to their academic pursuits, stressing that the opportunity must be treated with utmost seriousness. According to her, the scholarship is designed as a sustained intervention and will be renewed annually until beneficiaries complete their respective programmes, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

Also speaking at the event, the Municipal Director of Education, Nana Amoako Pokuaa, encouraged the students to prioritize their studies and uphold exemplary character. She highlighted discipline, determination, and consistency as essential qualities for success in higher education and future careers.

The beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament for the timely intervention, describing it as a major relief that would allow them to concentrate fully on their academic work. They pledged to work diligently and excel in their studies to justify the confidence reposed in them.

The initiative has received widespread commendation from community members and education stakeholders, who view it as a meaningful step toward bridging educational inequality and empowering the youth to contribute significantly to the development of the municipality and the nation at large.
