The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has reinforced its commitment to healthcare delivery in Ghana with a donation of GHS 81,940 to support life-saving surgeries for two children at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The financial assistance was directed to the hospital’s Department of Surgery to cover urgent medical procedures for Judith Wosemeh and Jewel Awadzi. Out of the total amount, GHS 74,002 was allocated for Judith’s surgery, while GHS 7,938 was used to support Jewel’s treatment.

The donation was presented by Gloria Precious Ankomah, Head of the Special Intervention Programme at GoldBod, on behalf of the organization. It was received by Patrick Bankah, Head of the Department of Surgery at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Speaking at the presentation, Dr. Bankah expressed profound gratitude to GoldBod for the timely intervention. He noted that the support not only ensures that the children receive the critical surgical care they need but also significantly reduces the financial burden on their families.

“This intervention has come at a crucial time. It relieves the families of a heavy financial load and allows them to concentrate on the recovery and well-being of their children,” he said.

The families of the beneficiaries also conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to GoldBod, describing the gesture as a lifeline during a very challenging period. According to them, the support has brought renewed hope and relief, enabling their children to access treatment that would otherwise have been difficult to afford.

The initiative forms part of GoldBod’s broader commitment to supporting national development through targeted social impact programmes. By investing in critical areas such as healthcare, the organization continues to play a vital role in improving lives and supporting vulnerable populations across the country.

GoldBod’s intervention highlights the importance of corporate and institutional support in strengthening Ghana’s healthcare system, particularly in ensuring access to essential medical services for those in need.
