A fatal shooting incident has rocked the Nyalewa community in the Asawase Constituency, leaving one person dead and two others critically injured in what authorities suspect to be a land-related dispute.

The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at approximately 6:00 a.m., sending shockwaves across the community and heightening fears over rising violence linked to land ownership conflicts in the area.

According to eyewitness accounts, the violence erupted following a heated confrontation between two individuals over the ownership of a parcel of land. One of the parties, believed to have legally acquired the land, was reportedly confronted by another individual who also claimed rightful ownership of the same property. The disagreement quickly escalated into a violent altercation.

In the course of the confrontation, gunshots were fired, resulting in the immediate death of one person, while two others sustained life-threatening injuries.
