MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to cultural preservation and community development by sponsoring major events for the 2026 Ashanti Festival in Kumasi. The telecommunications giant is taking a lead role in ensuring the festival’s success, with plans to fully fund a grand concert, a football gala, and other cultural activities, while calling on the public to actively participate in the celebrations.

Speaking at the festival’s official launch, Simon Amo, Senior Manager for General Affairs (Northern Sector) at MTN Ghana, emphasized the company’s strategic partnership with the Ashanti Regional Minister. He explained that MTN Ghana’s involvement began last year and has grown to include sponsorship of key events that highlight the region’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant community spirit.

“We are here with the Regional Minister to support the concept of a grand concert, and MTN Ghana is proud to be part of the official launch of the 2026 festival. Our sponsorship covers the concert, including ticket costs, as well as a football gala and the official launch luncheon,” Mr. Amo stated.

The company’s sponsorship extends beyond entertainment. MTN Ghana is funding a football gala, covering all associated costs including the venue, jerseys, trophies, refreshments for players, and prizes. Mr. Amo emphasized that this initiative is part of the company’s broader commitment to youth engagement, community development, and sports promotion.

Highlighting the significance of culture, Mr. Amo noted, “Culture is central to community life. As an African company, MTN Ghana identifies strongly with Ghanaian culture. Through our involvement in festivals like this, we ensure that the traditions, arts, and values of our people are celebrated and communicated across communities.”

He also called on the public, stakeholders, media practitioners, bloggers, and content creators to actively participate in and promote the festival. According to him, widespread engagement will not only enrich the festival experience but also position the Ashanti Region as a leading cultural and tourism destination.

“Let us all be enthusiastic and support this initiative. By participating and sharing our experiences, we project the Ashanti Region and its culture to the world, attract visitors, and foster national pride,” Mr. Amo urged.

The 2026 Ashanti Festival, featuring music, sports, cultural exhibitions, and community activities, is scheduled to run throughout the month. MTN Ghana’s sponsorship and active engagement underscore its dedication to cultural preservation, community development, and nation-building, ensuring that the festival remains an unforgettable celebration for residents and visitors alike.
