MTN Ghana has joined forces with the Ashanti Regional Minister to deliver a grand concert as part of the 2026 Ashanti Festival, reinforcing its commitment to promoting Ghanaian culture, unity, and community development. The festival, officially launched in Kumasi, promises to be a spectacular celebration of the Ashanti people’s rich heritage and vibrant traditions.

Speaking at the launch, Simon Amo, Senior Manager for General Affairs (Northern Sector) at MTN Ghana, highlighted the company’s extensive support for the festival, which includes not only the grand concert but also other key cultural and sporting activities. He emphasized that MTN Ghana has been involved in the festival planning since 2025 and continues to play a central role in its 2026 edition.

“We are here with the Regional Minister to support the idea of a concert, and as a company, we decided to latch onto it. Today marks the official launch of the 2026 festival, and MTN Ghana is proud to contribute significantly to its success,” Mr. Amo stated.

As part of its sponsorship, MTN Ghana is covering the full cost of the concert, including all ticketing expenses, to ensure that the event remains accessible to the public. Additionally, the company sponsored the launch luncheon, demonstrating its commitment to supporting the festival at every level.

Beyond entertainment, MTN Ghana is also supporting a football gala scheduled as part of the festival’s lineup. The company is funding the venue, jerseys, trophies, refreshments for players, and prizes, reflecting its broader goal of promoting youth engagement, sportsmanship, and community participation.

Mr. Amo explained that MTN Ghana’s involvement extends beyond financial sponsorship. “If the Regional Minister identifies additional areas for collaboration, MTN Ghana is ready to engage and support initiatives that enhance the festival’s success,” he said.

Highlighting the cultural significance of the festival, Mr. Amo remarked, “Culture is central to community life. As an African company, MTN Ghana strongly identifies with Ghanaian culture. Through events like this, we ensure that the traditions, arts, and values of our people are preserved and shared from one community to another.”

He called on the public, stakeholders, media practitioners, bloggers, and content creators to actively engage in the festival. According to him, this collective effort will enhance the festival’s visibility and establish the Ashanti Region as a leading cultural and tourism destination.

“Let us all be enthusiastic participants. By attending and promoting this festival, we project the Ashanti Region and its culture to the world, attracting visitors and fostering national pride,” Mr. Amo urged.

The 2026 Ashanti Festival is set to feature a series of activities throughout the month, including the grand concert, football gala, cultural exhibitions, and other events designed to celebrate the heritage of the Ashanti people. MTN Ghana’s partnership with the Regional Minister underscores the company’s commitment to cultural preservation, community development, and nation-building, ensuring the festival’s success for participants and visitors alike.
